What is your childhood trauma Pt. 4

#41: Mary Anne vs. Logan:

"Claudia flopped onto her bed* and leaned against the wall. She was looking especially acute that day. (Acute means cool. My friends and I make up words all the time, and only we know what they mean. Distant and dibble also mean cool.) Claud was wearing an oversized raspberry-colored shirt, a short black skirt, and black leggings (the layered look). On her feet were black cowboy boots*, and dangling from an earcuff was a huge collection of beads and stones."

* J'accuse! No shoes inside the Asian American's house!

As with all my other fanarts, I've updated her wardrobe to give our heroine a more modern feel. And because you know... this is a fashion blog (I swear), I've even put together a handy shopping guide if you want to recreate my illustrated ensemble:

Patterson J. Kincaid Gene Tee // Splendid Skirt // Black Milk Spartan Leggings // Frye Bruce Boots

Aren't those leggings bad ass? Claudia would be all over Black Milk like white on rice (the Galaxies! the Liquids! Bodysuits!! I want them all O_O) Plus points for being handmade by the artist, too.

In other news, I'll be leaving on a jet plane, I don't know when I'll be back again (early Nov). I'm still trying to figure how I can bring along my rainboots, but at least I'll get in a total of 30 hours flying over the Pacific Ocean to crank out more illustrations (*sob/sigh*).

Ask and you shall receive.

This one's for Kim.

#2: Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls (1986)

"Today, for instance, I'm wearing purple pants that stop just below my knees and are held up with suspenders, white tights with clocks on them, a purple plaid shirt with a matching hat, my high-top sneakers, and lobster earrings."

She looks Huck Finn shoved into a Salvador Dali painting, promoting Karmaloop.com. I actually had to restrain myself from slapping a pair of high heeled thigh-high boots just to make up for the inherent stumpification, but I'm staying true to the descriptions.

In hindsight, I kind of wish I made Claud's Converse X-Hi's in black instead of all white, but I had my hands full with all the purple, color wasn't really registering properly in my brain. In some other context, I'd definitely be down with some Clock Tights... probably not the lobster earrings, tho.

In efforts to help me complete my list of Claudia's outfits, I'm going to start taking requests.

Leave the book number, title, and outfit description in the comments, and I will (eventually) get to it.

BTW I'm going overseas next week (hello, 15 hour plane ride), but I have a couple Claud outfits already ready for the coming posts, so fear not and expect more oversized shirts and leggings.

The wolf is inside me

When I saw this editorial, I immediately fell in love with the shaggy, high heeled boots and the model's piercing stare. They seemed to take the photograph into a new territory - darker and more intriguing.

Unfortunately, I don't know designer of the boots since I cannot read Japanese (I only uncovered that the necklace is by Assad Mounser), though the Alexander Wang Polina Boot is quite gorgeous if you are looking for a similarly aggressive boot of the fur-variety.
