What is your childhood trauma Pt. 26

#60: Mary Anne's Makeover:

"... Claudia Kishi, wearing a lamé outfit that was all sharp angles and flashy colors."

Jill Stuart Ronneby Lesly Pleated Dress // 7 for all Mankind Minty Pumps

Nothing to celebrate New Year's Eve festivities like party dresses.

Bitches luv party dresses.

I for one will be likely be sticking to a little black dress with my purple JC Litas while hoarding rose brut and Lindeman's Framboise (who's got two thumbs and loves lambic beer? this girl).

Stay safe and remember to drink responsibly. Cheers!

Tree. Nog. Roast Beast.

Happy holidays! I for one have been enthusiastically celebrating the season of the Eggnog Latte, and because of all the warm, sugary, caffeinated tidings it has brought me, I'm spreading the cheer with an on-theme-holiday post(And what's more on theme than the Yule Ball?).

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire:

"It was Hermione.

But she didn't look like Hermione at all. She had done something with her hair; it was no longer bushy but sleek and shiny, and twisted up into an elegant knot at the back of her head. She was wearing robes made of a floaty, periwinkle-blue material, and she was holding herself differently, somehow -- or maybe it was merely the absence of the twenty or so books she usually had slung over her back..."

You'd be shocked at the general lack of periwinkle colored ball gowns, but Hermione is a classy chick (but don't tell her I called her a chick or she'll kill me), so it's a fair guess to think she'd go for something along the lines of this David Meister Chiffon Jewel-Shouldered Gown. Even if her night had to end with a screaming match against Ron, at least she had a fabulous ensemble.

Mystery #5: Mary Anne and the Secret in the Attic:

For example, that day she was wearing a lacy white top over a solid white bodysuit, a black mini skirt with white polka dots on it, lacy white leggings, and red high-tops. Plus some really outrageous black-and-white jewelry (earrings and bracelets and necklaces) that she'd made herself out of paper mâché.

AA 3-D Flower Mesh Jumper // AA Basic Bodysuit // Polka Dot Chiffon Skirt // White Lace Leggings

All right, damn it. I'll just say it. I miss What Claudia Wore.

Can I get an amen?

Your balloon animals were pathetic

Glee Season 1 x 11, Hairography:

Finn: I'm gonna say this as nice as i can, but you look like a sad clown hooker.

Sometimes I don't know why I illustrate the things I do(truth).

So maybe explanations are in order... Let's start with our most favorite/despised misguided diva in her disastrous attempt to seduce her high school crush. Insert sexy black AA Disco Pants, loads of hairspray and red lipstick:

One thing we learned from Glee is to love/hate Mash-Ups. I know I can't possibly be the only person in the world to make a stink-face when Rachel Berry popped out of her washroom in a Grease catsuit, but did anyone else remember the scene from "She's All That" when Lainey gets her revenge on clown loving, rich art-bitch Misty via drunken makeover?

Sad clown hooker, indeed.

#127: Abby's Un-Valentine:

"She was dressed in…a woolly sweater, long black tights with thick blue socks, and hiking boots…[Her] sweater was blue, white, and gray with a snowflake-patterned yoke. It was enormous, stretching almost to her knees.”

This looks like something Mary Anne would wear, but apparently even ghostwriters can take a break from jumpsuits, neon and high tops (I think they may have even put Jessi in something other than a leotard once).

Alas, I haven't included a shopping guide to this particular outfit since I couldn't find a satisfactory snowflake-yoked-chunky-fairisle-sweater at my usual online haunts. Luckily, I'm sure any number of artists over at Etsy would be happy to recreate similar socks and sweater if you asked nicely.

A fourteen-year-old hormone bomb

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:

"Ginny and Gabrielle, both wearing golden dresses, looked even prettier than usual...

'Yes, my tiara sets off the whole thing nicely,' said Auntie Muriel in a rather carrying whisper. "But I must say, Ginevra's dress is far too low cut.'"

Oh Muriel, you old bat - you would think that.

Ok - so technically Ginny is around 16 during Bill & Fleur's wedding, but I thought the quote suited her anyways.

FYI, this particular dress is modeled after this Beading Love Dress from Tobi.com. Fleur ends up donning a (fairly) simple dress, and it's unlikely she would have let her bridesmaids outshine her at her own wedding. Since the book only stipulates her bridesmaid dress to be gold, I picked one with a simple silhouette instead of anything too racy (read: deep necklines) since Fleur's 11-year old sister also had to wear one.

#68: Jessi and the Bad Baby-sitter:

"For example, today she was wearing an oversized white shirt under a black vest covered with a design of shiny beads. (She sewed the beads on it herself.) She wore neon green leggings and black ballet slippers (on which she'd sewn a matching bead design). From one of her pierced ears hung a dangling earring made from the same beads and on the other ear she wore a small green hoop earring. It was an original look that only Claudia could make work."

T by A.Wang Classic Long Sleeve Tee // Sonia Rykiel Sequined Vest
AA Shiny Tricot Leggings // Repetto BB Polka-dot Ballerina Flats

I skimped on the beads and her hair covers her ears, so I made up with some nice, gaudy green eyeshadow. Otherwise, I think the outfit is pretty accurate.

I'm going through some changes

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:

"She looked the youngest there; she has a pale heart-shaped face, dark twinkling eyes, and short spiky hair that was a violent shade of violet.

...a second later, her hair had turned bubble-gum pink.

'How did you do that?' said Harry, gaping at her as she opened her eyes again.

'I'm a Metamorphmagus,' she said, looking back at her reflection and turning her head so that she could see her hair from all directions. 'It means I can change my appearance at will...'"

I try to follow canon (and I am not opposed to her movie appearance), but seeing as Tonks can make herself look anyways she wants, it's a moot point. However, my fanon version* always pegged her as a pale, ultra-skinny, 90s-grungy pixie with big, expressive eyes... Like a cross between Mila Kunis and Amuro Namie with technicolor hair.

* - also, my fanon Lupin was Edward Norton**
** - and Sirius was Brad Pitt when he had his Grizzly Adams beard

PS - Hurrah for my first GIF!

#53: Kristy for President:

"Claud's hair was down, but she was wearing a hat. On the green hat ribbon was pinned a 'Kristy+' button. Her tights were orange and her dress was tie-dyed every color you could think of. She was wearing her feather earrings, and she'd drawn a star on her face next to her right eye."

Insane Troll Logic

Happy Thanksgiving, all.
I'm stuffed full of dishes of various root vegetables, and now I'm having a Very-Potter-Thanksgiving.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:

"Like her father, Luna was wearing bright yellow robes, which she had accessorized with a large sunflower in her hair. Once you got over the brightness of it all, the general effect was quite pleasant. At least there were no radishes dangling from her ears...

"I like this song," said Luna, swaying in time to the waltzlike tune, and a few seconds later she stood up and glided onto the dance floor, where she revolved on the spot, quite alone, eyes closed and waving her arms."

What is your childhood trauma Pt. 20

hello, bitches.
I'm back.

#44: Dawn and the Big Sleepover

"Claudia greeted us at the door to her room with her hair in a ponytail on top of her head, held up by a huge barrette in the shape of a bone, like Pebbles in The Flintstones. It made her hair bounce when she moved. She was even wearing a Pebbles-type outfit - a pink, off-the-shoulder blouse with huge polka dots and a ragged bottom over black tights. On anyone else it would have looked dumb or babyish, but on Claudia it looked cool."

entropificus has been (and will be) on a temporary hiatus.

I'm going through some heartbreak-induced life crisis at the moment (ugh the woes of newly unwanted singledom) and while I definitely haven't forgotten about my illustrations... life is kicking my ass.

and dragging it through the mud while it's tied to the back of a car.

Thanks to all still following my little blog - you guys are my little rays of sunshine.

I promise to be back.

Wetlook Pantyhose // Original Galaxies // Lightnings // Lace Flares // New Liquids // Black Galaxies

So I'm kind of a Black Milkaholic... I'm waiting on the Great Waves, which will be my 7th pair. I know a lot of people think $70+ is a lot to spend on leggings, but as someone who is vertically challenged and doesn't wear proper pants, I'm much more willing to shell out extra dough for stretchy, bad ass leggings I can wear year round.

James just released part one of the new Sun Queen mini-collection, with a 10% discount until tomorrow (Wednesday, 6/1) midnight CST with the discount code "thesunqueen". The Green Galaxies are number one on my current wishlist (though I'll be waiting for a few weeks for the second half of the mini-collection before getting my hands on any of the new stuff).

#30: Mary Anne and the Great Romance

"...a shocking-pink tunic over a white shirt with pink and yellow umbrellas printed on it. Over the tunic was a wide, low-slung yellow belt with a pink plastic buckle. The shirt, but not the tunic, was tucked into a pair of black knickers, and below the knickers were yellow stockings...divided it into five braids and had woven pink and yellow ribbons into the braids."

Apologies for lack of posts as of late, but I've been bogged down by this new thing called a day job... No more sleeping in till noon and sewing in my pajamas :P But this also means I'll be able to order a drawing tablet, which will (hopefully) cut down time between illustrations YIPEE~

Happy Easter!
Entropificus is now over a half year old, so I thought I'd so something a little special...

#6: Kristy's Big Day (1987):

"She was wearing one of her usual outrageous outfits: a black leotard and skintight red pants under a white shirt that was so big it looked like a lab coat. Claudia' s a wonderful artist and she had decorated the shirt herself, covering it with designs painted in acrylic. She had pinned her long, black hair back at the sides with red clips."

The only reality is virtual

I now have a tumblr (the gifs, OH THE GIFS)!

My tumblr account is for mostly just pictures + original description (if it came from a book or whatevs), but I'm not abandoning my blogspot account or anything. This blog will contain full posts with commentary/shopping guide/general miscellany... think of tumblr as a secondary functioning head (or not).

Anyways, haven't done one of these in a while... a typical outfit (black, black, black, big heels)

The peasants were all depressed

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe:

"...a great lady, taller than any woman Edmund had ever seen. She was also covered in white fur up to her throat and held long straight golden wand in her right hand and wore a golden crown on her head. Her face was white-- not merely pale, but white like snow or paper or icing-sugar, except for her very red mouth. It was a beautiful face in other respects, but proud and cold and stern."

Is it bad that the older I get, the more I love evil queens and super villianesses? The White Witch must have been one fierce bitch - like a fabulous Trogdor but instead of burninating, she turned the peasants into stone... while wearing Armadillo Shoes.

#62: Kristy and the Worst Kid Ever

"Today she was wearing purple-and-white-striped tights, Doc Martins [sic] (except she'd taken them off to sit on the bed), a short black ruffly skirt that looked like it was part of a women's Olympics figure-skater's costume, a purple cropped sweater with silver button covers on the back buttons, and a scrunchy black velvet hat decorated with purple and red velvet flowers."

Brushes : vaia @ dA

She's clearly unamused I opted for a crown of roses instead of a scrunchy velvet hat...
Too bad, Kishi. You're a hop, skip and jump from Blossom Russo territory. Don't push it :P

Happy White Day! This post is for Frankie...
I didn't forget your (or anyone else's) request... I'm just hella slow (;_;)

#49: Claudia and the Genius of Elm Street

"That afternoon, for instance, I was wearing a man's paisley vest I'd found at a yard sale, over a striped button-down shirt with tuxedo-stripe black Spandex stirrup pants, held up with pink-flecked black suspenders. My hair was pulled straight back with a paisley comb, and I was wearing electric-pink ankle boots. The boots really set off the formality of the rest of the outfit, sort of like the punchline of a joke...

...I think you can tell a lot about people from the way they dress. If you saw me, you might think: artistic, fun-loving, good sense of humor. At least I hope you'd think that."

#85: Claudia Kishi, Live From WSTO!

"I wore the coolest tuxedo I'd recently bought in a thrift shop, including a silky, piped shirt and a bright red velvet cummerbund. I removed the shoulder pads from the jacket, which made it really slouchy (I love that look). Then I bought a pair of white socks with silver glitter. I decided to wear a pair of red sneakers to match the cummerbund. I swept my hair up and fastened it with a rhinestone barrette in the shape of a musical note."

♥(人´∀`*)*Happy St. Valentine's Day*

So S. came home from work early with severely overpriced roses + a pop-up card...
Therefore, I'm spreading the VDay-spirit-of-giving with an early illustration post:

#33: Claudia and the Great Search:

"I, on the other hand, was dressed in one of my usual wild outfits - a very short black skirt, an oversized white shirt with bright pink and turquoise poodles on it, flat turquoise shoes with ankle straps, and a ton of jewelry, including dangly poodle earrings. My long hair was swept to one side in a high ponytail held in place with a huge pink barrette."

As soon as I saw these leggings, I knew I wanted to use them for Claudia's 'Abby's Book' illustration. Layering blurs/shades/patterns to look like the real deal was no easy task, but I really wanted to capture the characteristics of the fabric.

#45: Kristy and the Baby Parade:

"Here's what she was wearing (I saw her later that day at our meeting): an oversized red blouse with black buttons, green leggings with white, tie-dyed streaks*, and black high-top sneakers with all kinds of buckles and straps on them. (The laces were untied, which I guess is the cool way to wear them. I'd be tripping over them all day, but Claud can pull it off.)

Can you guess what her earrings were? Dangling watermelon slices. Get it? She was dressed like a watermelon, head to toe."

W00T Happy Year of the Rabbit (a few days late (_ _ );;.. geh)!! I have yet to eat mochi or drink red bean soup *tears*, but I blame the Snowpocalypse for my aversion to leaving the house, much less my room. Because of the blizzard, I was actually snowed in at J's house overnight (lucky for me, I wore my ridiculous MJ Moon Boots & her couch is damn comfy).

    WOE IS ME!!

I'm Photoshopless... meaning no more digital illustration until I can get my grubby hands on CS5 (BLERG this time I want Illustrator and InDesign, too). Until then, I'll have to illustrate Claudia the good, old fashioned way that makes my room smell like toxic-marker-heaven.

    #13: Goodbye, Stacey, Goodbye

"She was wearing a wonderful Claudia outfit - a purple-and-white striped body suit under a gray jumper-thing. The legs of the body suit stretched all the way to her ankles, but she was wearing purple push-down socks anyway. Around her middle was a wide purple belt with a buckle in the shape of a telephone. And on her feet were black ballet slippers."

I was unable to fit in the telephone buckle (gah... and it was going to be yellow, too) and it's not the same style as the other outfits (ie, no skin pigmentation whatsoever), but since I haven't updated in two weeks, you all can deal, right?

Time to sniff some markers, now.

    A crypt for two

Most people think we are cheesy, but S & I often share clothing (I like oversized and he likes fitted) and often end up coordinating our wardrobe. Having an affinity for purple, he immediately picked up these boots from IceFire when we were in Hong Kong. I immediately loved the contrasting colors and textures, but I definitely can't wear shoes four sizes bigger than my own. Luckily, these glorious Jeffrey Campbell Litas became available via Solestruck.

"Two teenage girls in the house" headache

    #50: Dawn's Big Date

"... she was wearing maroon leggings and ballet slippers under an oversized yellow shirt. Around her waist she wore this great belt that she made herself from three thin strips of leather tied together and decorated with ceramic beads. For the final touch, Claudia had swept her hair over to one side and tied it up with another thin leather strip that had the same kind of beads on it."

Happy 2011, everybody ~ To start off the new year, I had nonchalant Claudia paired with irritated & 80s-tastic Dawn for double the Bsc fun. In the coming weeks, I'm going to start working on fashion illustrations from different fandoms (and hopefully some multi-character pieces).

But don't worry - the Childhood Trauma series won't be going anywhere.
